How To Determine The Perfect Carbide Burrs?

Carbide burrs, often known as carbide rotary burrs are widely-used with high-speed electric mills or die grinders to process metal, wood, plastics, etc. Carbide rotary burrs are trusted in machinery, automobile, shipbuilding, chemical industry, craft carving, and other industries. Choosing the right carbide burr to your project is essential. There are numerous means of choosing a high-quality tungsten carbide rotary burr.

Shapes of tungsten carbide rotary burrs
The form from the carbide rotary burr needs to be determined by the shape in the workpiece. When processing the inner arc surface, a semi-circular burr or round burr (small diameter workpiece) should be used; when processing the interior corner surface, triangular burrs needs to be selected; when processing the interior right angle surface, an appartment burr and square burr may be selected. If the flat burr can be used to chop the interior right angle surface, it is vital to make a narrow surface (smooth edge) without teeth close to one of the inner right angle surfaces, in an attempt to avoid damaging the best angle surface.

Tooth thickness of carbide rotary burrs
The thickness of burr teeth needs to be determined in line with the allowance size of the workpiece, machining accuracy, and material properties. The coarse tooth carbide burr is acceptable for machining workpieces with large allowance, low dimensional accuracy, large form and position tolerance, large surface roughness value, and soft material; otherwise, fine-tooth carbide burr should be selected. When used, it must be chosen based on machining allowance, dimensional accuracy, and surface roughness essential for workpiece.

Sizes of carbide burrs
The dimensions and specification of cemented carbide rotary burr should be selected according to the sized the workpiece and machining allowance. If the machining size is large along with the allowance is large, cemented carbide rotary burr with a large size needs to be selected, or possibly a tungsten carbide rotary burr using a small size needs to be selected instead.
