I recall, not too long ago, reading content by a prominent blogger and SEO expert about “mobile blogging”. He previously a “blogging box” which allowed him to blog wherever he was (that we thought would have been a bit stupid and pretentious). It included searching for camera, a laptop having a 3G modem, a notepad and pen, as well as other pieces. The full lot pretty much fit in a suitcase.
Thankfully, important things have progressed somewhat, and that we are in possession of WordPress apps for iPhone/iPad and Android. Both apps are compatible with more or less recent versions of WordPress. That said, be sure you check which type of WordPress you need to be running so that you can access your dashboard via mobile.
Blogging vs Microblogging
Obviously, your main limitation when using a mobile phone for blogging is the fact everything is a small bit a greater portion of a problem. You simply can’t type as rapidly, upload as much pictures, format also, or perform a few advanced things. You can do almost everything you may need, however it is a little more cumbersome.
With that being said, the best way forward is clearly microblogging. By microblogging I can’t mean a twitter-esque update. I just mean a bare-bones post, which has a picture and some commentary that you simply thought of when you were out of your laptop and a wi-fi connection.
What this lets you do, amongst other items, is live-blog events and stuff that happen. If you spot something exciting, you’ll be able to have a photo or even a video from it and place it on your own blog before you go back home. If you are available of breaking news, this is often invaluable.
