1. A: Hawthorne effect. The name originates from studies of workers in a factory called Hawthorne Works in early part of the 20th century. The research learned that when workers know they’re being monitored in an experiment, the results of the experiment tend to be unique of those achieved by workers taking part in an identical experiment who’re unaware actually being monitored.
